Meet the KJL Team
Kathy J. LaMontagne (a.k.a. KJL)
Kathy LaMontagne opened KJL Interior Design in 1991. A graduate of Stanford University, Kathy worked in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving her practice to Oregon. Kathy is passionate about the work of interior design and is honored to create interior spaces that are exciting, innovative and practical. Style and preferences are unique to each client, so she works as your advocate to embody that vision. Kathy is a problem solver and especially loves tackling projects that are outside the norm…developing creative solutions that exceed expectations – seeking that “wow” factor that makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Karen began working at KJL in April, 2010. Her family moved to Eugene, OR from Atlanta, GA, where she was the Executive Assistant to the owner of the largest home builder in the southeast. Karen has two loves — home interiors and gardening. She is especially fond of mid-century modern homes and furnishings.
Karen enjoys spending her working hours with Kathy and just loves being around furniture, fabric, wall coverings, tile and flooring. She thinks Kathy is very articulate and does a fantastic job with her client’s variety of needs.
Georgia attended college in San Diego where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in interior design. Originally from Pasadena, CA, she moved to Eugene to hone her design and architectural skills in a more environmentally conscious environment. She recently started the Master of Architecture program at the University of Oregon.
As an artist as well as a designer, Georgia brings a unique and refreshing perspective to KJL Interior Design.
Malaknaz Modaresnezhad received her BSc degree in Architecture from Iran in 2011 and worked in professional architecture firms there for two years by focusing on residential and commercial buildings. To continue her passion in architecture and interior design, she attended University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) in 2013 where she received her Master of Science in Interior Architecture focusing on impact of daylight in design of workstation partitions in open plan offices. Malaknaz joined KJL as an Interior Designer in 2017. Her goal is to provide a better environment for people to live, work, study, and entertain by using her design.

“Kathy was involved with us from the conception of our home, through the construction and the furnishing, until the last picture was hung. Not only are we extremely pleased with her design work and creative ideas, she was a delight to work with.”
